It’s the 4th quarter of 2011. Will you perform like the Cowboys or the Lions?

Now, everyone who knows me, knows that I am, without a doubt, a Dallas Cowboys diehard fan. Have been since I was a little girl. And for those of you who may not be into football, let me tell you how my beloved team basically pissed me off yesterday.

At halftime, my team had a commanding lead. What do I mean by commanding? We were not only leading by 24 points, we looked really good doing it. Tony Romo, the quarterback, was on his way to having one of his best games, and our defense was doing the job. And then….

It all fell apart.

By the end of the third quarter, a couple of Tony’s throws were intercepted for touchdowns and all of sudden, I started to really think we could actually lose this game.

As the fourth quarter began, I’m sure the Cowboys were thinking: This is it. The moment where we will get it together and perform to the level we are capable of and beat this team. And do you know what the Lions were probably thinking? They were thinking: This is it.  The moment where we will get it together and perform to the level we are capable of and beat this team.

So you see, while both were thinking the same way, only one team actually executed. Unfortunately, that team was the Lions and they beat the Cowboys in what was the biggest collapse in Dallas’ history.

What does this have to do with you? I’m glad you asked.

It’s the first Monday in October. The 4th quarter of your 2011. As with the game, it doesn’t matter what happened in quarter 1, 2 or 3. It only matters what you are going to do now. Not think now (remember, both teams were thinking the same thing). It’s about action. It’s about execution. It’s about not giving up until the clock strikes 00:00 – or in this case, 2012.

So what’s it gonna be? You ready to take the victory for your 2011?

Who cares if you haven’t met that goal? Who cares if you’ve gotten behind on your action plan? Who cares if you’ve actually gained weight, got more in debt, haven’t started that book, landed that client, dealt with that crappy relationship, or had that pain, bump, or cough checked out.

Just as the Lions stepped up in the 4th quarter, so can you. Now is the time to get out of thinking mode and get into doing mode. Success comes in the action – always.

It’s the fourth quarter of your 2011 – what say you?
