One of the highlights of the Get RADICAL Women’s Conference is the awards ceremony and reception. This program puts the spotlight on incredible women doing amazing things in their life, their business and their community. During this evening program, we come together and hear from the finalists as they share their journey to success.
RADICAL Woman Award Recipient:
This award recognizes and honors the woman who is bold and courageous enough to depart from the usual, expected or ordinary in order to take charge of her professional and personal life. This woman lives with purpose and passion in all that she does and is committed to defining success for herself. She has designed a lifestyle that reflects her commitment to her family, her career, her community and to her self-care.
Sandra Dubose-Gibson
At the age of 25, Sandra was faced with the incurable auto immune disease, Alopecia Universalis, which resulted in the complete loss of all of the hair on her body. Initially overcome by low self esteem, she was forced into a compelling journey of self love and self acceptance and has emerged a living example that true beauty comes from within.
In 2008, Sandra transformed pain into passion by producing and directing her debut documentary film “Project Liberation, My Alopecia Experience. In 2009, she founded the Alopecia Community of the Triangle, a support group for adults and children challenged with hair loss conditions in and around Raleigh, NC.
As a testament of her courage and new found confidence, on Saturday, March 26, 2011, Sandra competed bald in a local beauty pageant and won the title of 2011 Mrs. Black North Carolina. She made history and national media headlines when she became the 1st Bald Beauty Queen to be crowned in the Tar Heel State.
RADICAL Entrepreneur Award Recipient:
This award recognizes and honors the woman for her entrepreneurial spirit in leading, growing and successfully running her business. The RADICAL Entrepreneur Award seeks to recognize the woman who passionately pursues her business goals while also giving back to her community.
Terry Hawkins
Twenty-two years ago, Terry lost her job when her employer went into liquidation. With her self-esteem at an all-time low, Terry refused to play the victim. She picked herself up and found a new job. Then not long after, she started her own training company, People In Progress, despite having only $167 to her name.
Today, People In Progress is a multi-million dollar business, servicing the who’s-who of businesses in both Australia and overseas. Having personally delivered training sessions to hundreds of thousands of people around the globe, Terry is a pioneer in her field, developing leading edge programs and presentations that help companies find their ‘gap’ and achieving their goals.
Her fascination with human behavior has also led her to study incessantly about peak performance and the blockages that stop people from succeeding (becoming a Master Practitioner in NLP, Hypnotherapy and Time Line Therapy in the process).
Before her relocation to the USA in 2011, Terry was also the most booked female speaker in Australia for many years. She is the author of the best selling, “There are only two times in life, NOW & TOO LATE! and has also authored 5 children’s books (STICKMAN RULES), teaching children about the more challenging areas in life such as obesity, divorce, difference, disabilities and cancer. In 2010 she was awarded the Educator Award for Excellence from the NSA (Australia).

Last year at the Get RADICAL Women’s Conference, I extended an invitation to become a member of the Elite Tier of the RADICAL Success Institute. Over the past year, I’ve worked with this small group of women helping them achieve RADICAL results in their professional and personal life.
As this program comes to an end, I wanted to take a moment and recognize one of our Elite Members. She’s our 2012 RADICAL Success Institute Shining Star Award Winner.
