My Leap of Faith

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. We all know that he had a dream – but it was only when he tapped into, and acted on, faith did that dream turn into action and real change began to happen.

One of his most well known quotes says:

Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.

It’s in that first step that our fear is most prevalent. It’s in that first step that our inner critic is screaming at its loudest. It’s in that first step where we think about the safety and coziness of our comfort zone. It’s in that first step where the slightest setback or disappointment sends us scurrying back to “what we know”, convincing us that our dream is just that – a dream.

I speak this from experience because these are all the things I felt when I founded the Get RADICAL Women’s Conference.

Over the past three years, many people have wondered and asked me – “how do I do it?”

Jillian Michaels, Suze Orman, Lisa Nichols, Ali Brown, and Monique Greenwood!

That’s an all-star, celebrity line up.

No, I don’t have angel investors (yet).
No, I don’t have REALLY big sponsors beating down my door (yet).
No, I don’t charge registrations based on actual expenses (never).

So, what’s the answer? I let them know that the question is actually irrelevant. The question that should be asked is “Why do I do it?”

I believe that we are on this earth with a purpose and a passion to fulfill. I believe that most people want to do more, be more, have more and give more. I also believe that most people don’t have access to the right tools, resources and insider information they need to make it happen in their lives – whatever “it” is for them.

Why I do it is because with every bone in my body, with every corner of my soul and every beat of my heart, I believe that we all have greatness in us screaming to come out and play a bigger game and that conferences, mentors and coaches provide the bridge of knowledge, support and accountability to help us make the big leap from where we are to where we want to be.

I believe that many people need to know that they are not alone – in their fears, their longings, their desires and their goals. I believe that some people are looking for the way, the path, the process to move them into the powerful being they were created to be. I believe that if this conference didn’t exist, some people would miss out on the life changing experience that many of our attendees have already had by being a part of this event,

Success is not an accident. Nothing happens by luck and nothing ever happens “overnight”. If you are waiting for your success to arrive that way – you will be waiting a very long time.

Oprah always says, “if you knew better, you would do better”. And I host this conference as an avenue to help people “know better”.

I wake up everyday with the sole mission of helping people overcome their fear and doubt and be courageous enough to listen to their inner voice that tells them exactly what success looks like for them. That tells them exactly what direction to move in. That tells them exactly how much more they are capable of and how much more they are able to achieve above and beyond their dreams.

But that inner voice has been diminished – and sometimes silenced – by past mistakes, setbacks, failures, disappointments, doubt, anxiety, frustration, apathy, laziness or an overwhelming belief that we don’t deserve to have what we want – that success is for “other people”.

This conference allows me to pursue my mission in a big way – helping people make transformational changes that forever alters the trajectory of their life.
